Professional Profile:

Dr Chong Kian Tai ispecialises in the management of both general urology and complex urologic cancers. He is skilled in a variety of treatment options, including traditional open surgery, advanced laparoscopic and endoscopic surgery, and the modern Da Vinci robotic surgical system.

Dr Chong completed his advanced clinical urologic-oncology fellowship at the Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York in 2009. He is an expert in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of prostate, kidney, bladder, testis, and penile cancers.

For urologic cancers, Dr Chong focuses on various treatments including focal therapy for prostate cancer, MRI-ultrasound fusion prostate biopsy, bladder cystoscopy with narrow-band imaging (NBI), and Da Vinci robotic partial nephrectomy. He also performs Da Vinci robotic radical prostatectomy with removal of pelvic lymph nodes to treat men with Stage 2 and Stage 3 prostate cancer.

For general urology, Dr Chong specialises in the treatment of enlarged prostate and kidney stones using new, minimally invasive procedures such as the UroLift, Rezum, and Prolieve procedures, and retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) using a flexible ureteroscope.

Before entering private practice, Dr Chong served as the consultant, adjunct assistant professor, co-director of urologic oncology, and director of research in the Department of Urology at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He also chaired multiple urology cancer support programs and research initiatives.
