Professional Profile:

Dr Kong Hwai Loong is a medical professional and researcher who currently holds the position of Adjunct Associate Professor at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and serves as a visiting specialist in medical oncology at the National University Healthcare System (NUHS). He is widely recognised for his contributions to cancer research and administration in Singapore.

Dr Kong received his medical degree from NUS in 1988 and completed his postgraduate medical fellowship training at the New York Hospital – Cornell Medical Centre between 1995 and 1997. He has a Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) from NUS and Membership to the Royal College of Physician (UK). He obtained his specialist qualification in Medical Oncology and was elected to be a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine in 1998. He also holds a Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, and was elected to be a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh) in 2004.

Dr Kong has received numerous academic awards, including the Singapore Young Scientist Award, the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Merit Award, and the National Day Award from the President of Singapore. He has also won the Singapore Youth Award twice for his achievements in cancer research and the Ministry of Education Service to Education Award twice for his contributions to high school education in Singapore.

Dr Kong specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of adult cancers and regularly lectures on oncology-related and  youth related topics.
