Professional Profile:

Dr Tan is a respiratory and intensive care physician with a range of special interests and accomplishments in his field. He is currently a consultant at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, where he focuses on endobronchial ultrasound, pleural diseases, extracorporeal life support, and critical care ultrasound.

Dr Tan received his medical degree from the National University of Singapore in 2004. He then completed specialty training in Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine at the Singapore General Hospital, where he also worked as a consultant.

Dr Tan is particularly skilled in advanced bronchoscopic techniques, such as endobronchial ultrasound and medical pleuroscopy. He has directed advanced bronchoscopy courses that have attracted participants from  all over Asia and Australasia. He has also been invited to speak at international conferences on bronchology and interventional pulmonology.

In the field of intensive care medicine, Dr Tan’s expertise lies in extracorporeal life support (ECLS) and critical care ultrasound. He has been accredited in the management of ECLS patients and the Certificate in Clinician Performed Ultrasound from the Australasian Society for Ultrasound in Medicine.

Teaching is another area where Dr Tan excels. He has held multiple teaching-related appointments and is highly regarded as a clinical teacher. He has received numerous awards for his teaching efforts, including the Singapore Health Residency Outstanding Faculty Award in 2016.
