Professional Profile:

Dr Choo is a Senior Radiation Oncologist and practices at Icon Cancer Centre clinics at Farrer Park, Mount Elizabeth, Gleneagles and Mount Alvernia hospitals.

Dr Choo graduated from UK in 1998, obtained MRCP in 2002 and clinical oncology (FRCR) qualification in 2007. He is the current Chapter Chairman of Radiation Oncology at the Academy of Medicine Singapore. He was Assistant Professor in Medicine at the National University of Singapore from 2011-2018.

He specialises in breast, gynaecological, head and neck, skin and sarcoma cancers. He set up the first MRI based cervical interstitial and intracavity brachytherapy in Singapore. He authored 30 peer review articles and wrote the chapter in clinical research in the Encyclopedia of Radiation Oncology.

From 2010 to 2016, he founded the Nasopharyngeal Cancer Patient Support Group and the Singapore Sarcoma Support Group and acted as the medical advisor. He was awarded the Singapore Patient Advocate Award in 2016. In 2018, he received the highest honour in the Healthcare Humanity award, receiving a medal from the President of Singapore. He was an EXCO member of Breast Cancer foundation Singapore and a committee member of the Rehabilitation program at Singapore Cancer Society.
