Professional Profile:

Dr Harish Mithiran is a senior consultant thoracic surgeon at Gleneagles and Mount Alvernia hospitals. He specialises in minimally invasive surgery for conditions affecting the lungs and chest, including lung cancer, lung nodules, pleural disorders, mediastinal conditions, and complex thoracic oncologic surgery.

Dr Harish specialises in minimally invasive lung and chest surgery, including Robotic-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (RATS), Video-Assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery (VATS), and Uniportal VATS (U-VATS). These advanced surgical methods use very small incisions, leading to less postoperative pain and allowing patients to return to their daily lives more quickly. He also uses specialised techniques for precisely locating small lung issues and advanced lung navigation tools to help ensure an accurate diagnosis and guide the best treatment plan.

Dr Harish graduated from medical school in 2004 and completed his surgical training before joining the National University Hospital in 2009 for advanced cardiothoracic surgery training. He was accredited as a thoracic and lung specialist in 2014 and has since performed more than 2,700 thoracic operations.

Dr Harish has held several leadership and training roles in thoracic surgery. He served as Associate Program Director for the Cardiothoracic Surgery Residency Programme from 2015 to 2021, helping train the next generation of cardiothoracic surgeons in Singapore. He is a Council Member of the Chapter of Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Singapore, and Treasurer of the South East Asian Thoracic Society.

He is the Founder and Medical Director of Neumark Lung & Chest Surgery Centre, where his practice combines advanced surgical technology with patient-based care. His focus is on providing clear guidance, surgical precision, and continuity of care for patients seeking specialised thoracic treatment in Singapore.
