Professional Profile:

Dr Kam Ming Hian has a passion for minimally invasive colorectal surgery. He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1998, completed his surgical training at Singapore General Hospital in 2006 and was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh and a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore in 2007.

Dr Kam’s expertise includes Laparoscopic Colorectal Cancer Surgery, Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery, and Robotic-assisted Surgery. He was appointed Director of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery in 2012 and is one of the few surgeons in Singapore accredited to perform Robotic Colorectal Surgery. He has also conducted numerous laparoscopic workshops, training local and international surgeons, and has been invited to speak at various international conferences.

Aside from his surgical skills, Dr Kam is also highly experienced in endoscopy procedures, having conducted thousands of gastroscopy and colonoscopy procedures. As Endoscopy Platform Director at SGH Surgical Skills Centre and later as Deputy Director, Surgical Skills and Simulation Centre, SingHealth-Duke NUS, he oversaw the development of the surgical skills training curriculum across multiple platforms.

Dr Kam has published numerous research papers in local and international peer-reviewed journals and has contributed academic chapters in surgical textbooks. He was appointed Director of Clinical Research in 2009 and is a reviewer for the Singapore Medical Journal. He has also been active in academic teaching, holding positions as

Assistant Professor with the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and Clinical Senior Lecturer with the National University of Singapore.

Throughout his career, Dr Kam has received multiple awards for his service and contributions to the field of surgery.
