Dr. Lai has over 18 years of working experience in public hospitals, including serving as a consultant in the department of colorectal surgery in SGH. His expertise lies in colorectal surgery, endoscopy, and proctology, with a specific interest in minimally invasive procedures such as advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery.

To further hone his skills in minimally invasive surgery, Dr. Lai completed a one-year Health Manpower Development Programme Fellowship at the University of Hong Kong, Queen Mary Hospital. He also obtained a ‘Diplôme d’Université de Chirurgie Laparoscopique’ from the University of Strasbourg, France, to further his knowledge in laparoscopic surgery.

Dr. Lai is a respected figure in the field of colorectal surgery and currently serves as the Immediate Past President of the Society of Colorectal Surgeons, Singapore. He also sits on the Board of Directors of the Asia Pacific Endo-Laparoscopy Surgery group and actively participates in endo-laparoscopic workshops and teaching in the Asia Pacific region. Additionally, he is a lifetime member of the Endoscopic and Laparoscopic Surgeons of Asia.
