Professional Profile:

Dr Lee Guek Eng is a medical oncologist specialising in breast cancer, with a particular focus on young women with breast cancer. She obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degrees from the National University of Singapore, and also holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Cell and Molecular Biology.

After completing her specialist training in Medical Oncology in 2013, Dr Lee began practicing at the National Cancer Centre in Singapore. Her passion for breast cancer research led to her being awarded an international fellowship NMRC research grant in 2016, which enabled her to train as a fellow at the prestigious Dana- Farber Cancer Institute in the United States. Her research there focused on young women with breast cancer and pregnancy associated breast cancer.

Dr Lee has been heavily involved in research in Singapore, including studies aimed at identifying the barriers to trial participation among Asian populations and young women with breast cancer. She has also been instrumental in setting up a national program for young women with breast cancer, which aims to increase awareness and education. Her research has been recognized with a second grant under the Industry Alignment Fund (IAF) by the NMRC, for her work on a novel compound for the treatment of brain metastases in advanced breast cancer patients.

Dr Lee is a frequent presenter at international oncology conferences, where she shares her research findings and contributes to ongoing discussions about breast cancer treatment and research. Her dedication to improving outcomes for young women with breast cancer is an inspiration to colleagues and patients alike.
