Dr Roger Tan is a consultant specialist in renal medicine with subspecialisations in lupus nephritis, kidney transplant, and various up-to-date dialysis modalities. He graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1997 and has been accredited by the Ministry of Health, Singapore. Throughout his career, he has shown a strong interest in treating kidney conditions associated with autoimmune diseases, such as lupus nephritis.

Dr Tan is the medical director for a chain of dialysis centres in Singapore and has been consulted for setting up and managing dialysis centres in the region. His dedication to enhancing medical care for his dialysis patients led his team to initiate the telecare medicine service, which earned him “The Best Abstract Award in The 4th Asia Pacific PD College” in Incheon, South Korea, in 2007.

In addition to his expertise in dialysis, Dr Tan has expanded his research and clinical interest into renal bone diseases and hemodialysis. His research work has earned him the prestigious “Best Abstract Award in The 2nd Congress of International Society for Hemodialysis” in Hong Kong in 2009.

Dr Tan is also skilled in performing peritoneal dialysis catheter insertion using peritoneoscopic techniques, a minimally invasive method that shortens hospital stays and can be performed on highrisk patients who cannot undergo general anesthesia.
