Professional Profile:

Dr. Tay has extensive training and experience in Head and Neck Surgery. He completed his medical education at the NUS faculty of medicine and went on to become the first-ever distinction candidate in the Exit Examinations for Otolaryngology.

Dr. Tay underwent Senior Fellowship training in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre in New York, where he was rated as one of the top 5% of trainees by Professor Jatin Shah. He also received further training in robotic surgery at Yonsei Severance Hospital in Korea before founding the Robotic Head and Neck Surgery program at Singapore General Hospital.

Dr. Tay is a pioneer in robotic tongue base surgery for obstructive sleep apnea and has been invited to teach in Malaysia, Korea, and Israel on various robotic approaches to surgery. He is recognized as the only Head and Neck Surgeon in the region listed in Intuitive Surgical’s da Vinci Surgeon Locator.

Aside from his clinical practice, Dr. Tay is a passionate educator and has won multiple teaching awards, including the Star Inspiring Surgical Teacher Award and the Most Innovative Teacher Award. He continues to teach Duke-NUS students as an Adjunct Assistant Professor.
